Medical play basics
Medical play here means roleplay: the power of the white coat, the clinical tone, the exam. Not real procedures.
Keep it non-invasive
- ·Good props: gloves, a stethoscope, a blood pressure cuff, a penlight, a Wartenberg pinwheel, a clipboard.
- ·Never use needles, scalpels, catheters, sounds or anything else that breaks skin or goes inside the body without real training.
- ·Never use real medication as part of play.
Hygiene
- ·Use nitrile gloves if either of you has a latex allergy.
- ·Only use lube and toys that are body-safe.
- ·Clean every prop before and after.
The emotional side
- ·Medical settings can bring back real trauma. Talk about past experiences before you play.
- ·Agree on what the “doctor” can and can’t say. Clinical coldness is part of the fun, but it can sting.
